Medical Explorers

Northwestern Memorial Hospital has hosted Medical Explorers Post 9766 since 1996. This community service program provides young people with life experiences to help them mature and become responsible adults.

The Explorers program is based on five areas of emphasis:

  • Career Opportunities
  • Life Skills
  • Service Learning
  • Character Education
  • Leadership Experience

How to Become an Explorer

If you are interested in becoming a medical explorer and would like to apply, you will have to submit the following items, along with a completed application.

  • A $50 annual registration fee, which includes all on-site, hospital-sponsored activities, as well as uniforms
  • An official school transcript
  • An academic recommendation from your school counselor
  • A parent/guardian signature on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Medical Explorer Standards and Bylaws document, which you can print out, sign, and send in

Additionally, you must be at least 14-years-old and must have completed 8th grade by the time you begin the program.

Medical Explorer Membership Application

The 2008-2009 application cycle begins September 15, 2008 and ends October 10, 2008.

The Medical Explorer membership application is due by October 10, 2008. Mail your completed application to:
