The word "ataxia" means lack of coordination. People with ataxia have problems with muscle control causing a lack of balance and coordination when performing voluntary movements.
At the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center, we provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients diagnosed with ataxia. Patients are cared for by an integrated treatment team consisting of fellowship-trained neurologists, geneticists, social workers, nurses, neuropsychologists, and physical, occupational and speech therapists.
