Dystonia is a movement disorder that causes a person to contract or move their muscles unwillingly in an abnormal, repetitive, or twisting way. Dystonia may affect any voluntary muscle in the body including: arms, legs, trunk, neck, head, or face.
At the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center, we provide comprehensive care for patients and families affected by dystonia. Our multidisciplinary treatment team consists of physicians, social workers, nurses, neuropsychologists, and physical, occupational and speech therapists who are experts in the treatment of patients with all varieties of dystonia, both common and rare. We offer a complete spectrum of dystonia care from clinical evaluation, to treatments using the latest in medication, injections, and deep brain stimulation surgery.
