Tremors are involuntary, rhythmic movements. There are several types of tremors. These can be identified by their individual frequency of movement as well as observing what actions make the tremor better or worse. Essential Tremor is the most common type of movement disorder overall. Tremor can be the symptom of a variety of neurological conditions however the word "essential" indicates that the tremor is not tied to any other condition. Many patients needlessly suffer with essential tremor because they are not aware that very effective treatments exist.
At the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center, we provide comprehensive care for patients and families affected by tremor. Our multidisciplinary treatment team consists of physicians, social workers, nurses, neuropsychologists, and physical, occupational and speech therapists who are experts in the treatment of patients with all varieties of tremor.
