Gait describes the way people walk. When this pattern of walking is disrupted it is called a Gait disorder. Gait disorders put people at an increased risk of falling.
At the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center, we provide multidisciplinary evaluation and management of patients with gait dysfunction. Working together with the Geriatric Evaluation Service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Movement Disorders Center provides a combined approach with physical and occupational therapy, and instruction in fall prevention.
