Tests for Gait Disorder

Patients with gait disorders are seen by a fellowship-trained movement disorders neurologist. A diagnosis is made after obtaining a complete medical history and performing a thorough neurological evaluation.

Testing may include:

  • Blood tests to look for nutritional deficiencies

  • MRI imaging of the brain and spine to look for anatomic abnormalities that can contribute to gait dysfunction

Some patients are evaluated in our advanced gait lab, which enables clinicians to pinpoint the exact nature of the gait dysfunction.
