Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Gynecology Program Rated Illinois' Highest Among America's Best in 2008 U.S. News & World Report Rankings

The gynecology program at Northwestern Memorial's Prentice Women's Hospital ranks 18th in the nation among thousands of programs evaluated for the 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals". Editors for the influential ranking reviewed 5,453 hospitals in 16 different clinical areas. At 18, it is the highest-rated gynecology program of any Illinois hospital. In 2007 the program was ranked 26.

"This recognition of our program is a reflection of the commitment of our staff to providing the highest quality care to patients, and the dedication to patient satisfaction. It is an honor to be among the top gynecologic programs in the country, and the highest rated in Illinois," said Sherman Elias, MD, chair of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and John J. Sciarra Professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

The program encompasses a comprehensive array of gynecologic services, including well woman care, routine examinations and screenings, contraceptive management, menopause-related care, incontinence and bladder-related care and minimally invasive surgery. Northwestern Memorial’s services are also dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic cancers through specialized programs for ovarian, cervical, endometrial and uterine cancers.
